Pillow & Maxfield at Market and a giveaway!

So another line that will be coming to the store is Pillow & Maxfield's Gypsy Bandana.  Their booth at market was so cheery it made me want to buy the entire line but since I have to be on a budget I only bought part of it.  It won't be coming until after the first of the year but I think that will be perfect timing since it is very springy looking and that is when we will all want to start sewing with those brighter colors.

This is Anne Maxfield & Valerie Pillow themselves.  And they are just as sweet as they are cute!

And here are a couple of shots of their market booth.  It was dreamy, luxurious and made me want to crawl up there and take a little nap.

And isn't this outfit just adorable?!  Totally made me want to sew up a skirt for myself.   I don't really even sew for myself but this outfit made me want to start! :)  Do you all sew for yourself or do you sew other stuff?

And for today's giveaway . . . it is a mish mash of things.  I couldn't decide what I wanted to give away so I picked several things for you all.  There are the following things in the bundle for you:

-Four fat quarters from Momo's It's a Hoot line

-Three half meter cuts of Japanese fabric from Kokka

-Five fat quarters from Sarah Fielke's line called From Small Things

-Four fat eighths from Kate Spain's Central Park line

Leave me a comment and tell me what kinds of things you sew or what kinds of things you want to sew and I'll draw a winner on Friday.  Can't wait to hear all the neat things you sew up!

Central Park and a winner! :)

So I'll give you more of what I saw at Quilt Market.  It really is so amazing to be there.  Every designer puts so much effort into displaying their fabrics and/or products.  All the booths are so pretty and, of course, there was not enough time to stay in each booth as long as I wanted.  Another fabric line that will be making its appearance in the store in the spring is Kate Spain's Central Park line.  This line will appear to a variety of people.  There are cute prints with little animals all over it that will appeal to people that sew for little kids.  But then there are some very beautiful floral and geometric prints to balance it out.  And the colors in this line are just fabulous!  Here's a few shots of the Central Park booth:

These picture really don't do the fabrics justice.  You'll have to trust me when I say they are much prettier in person!

Look for Central Park to arrive in the store around mid-April 2011.

And for the final bit of blogging fun today, we have a winner of the Sweet Broderie fat quarters.  I put everyone's names on a piece of paper and had my little 3 year old sweetie choose one.  She thinks she cool and I'm sure the winner will too.  Little Sweetie chose The Hungry Crafter as the winner.  So send me your mailing address and I'll get your fat quarters in the mail.  And everyone else be forewarned that if you read The Hungry Crafters blog you will get very hungry reading the neat recipes she has posted.

Check back on Monday for another giveaway and more pics of all the neat things I saw at Quilt Market.  Have a great weekend everyone and I hope you find time to sew!

A little inspiration and sale announcement

I just love all the inspiration that is found on the internet!  From the recipes to the home decorating tip and then to sewing tutorials, there is a wealth of information out there.  Don't get me wrong . . . I think there are some great printed patterns that we offer in the store also but I think between the two you can sew just about anything you want.

I have been using the free tutorials I find on the internet as sew along guides for a Friday Night Sewing Lounge.  A few Fridays ago, I used a tutorial from the Ucreate blog.  I used the tutorial for the Zig Zag Pillow.  This is what I created using the tutorial and then making it my own.

I am open to suggestions for sew alongs so if you ever see a tutorial you want to try, just send me a link.  We can work on it at the next open lounge night.

I also want to announce that Stitch-n-Lounge will be having a sale in connection with the Small Business Saturday campaign.  We will have sewing demonstrations, refreshments, a sale table full of fabric and you will have the chance to enter drawings for gift certificates to the store!  The sale will be on November 27th and I will tell you more as the time gets nearer so stay tuned!

Don't forget to leave a comment on my Quilt Market post to enter the drawing for some free fabric.

Happy sewing!

Quilt Market Report, Fall 2010

I recently had the pleasure of attending the International Quilt Market in Houston.  Quilt Market is where all the fabric designers, manufacturers, pattern designers, etc. debut their new products for the upcoming months.  It is exciting to see all the new stuff all in one place.  But it was way more work than I thought it would be.  And a little disappointing because I wanted to buy everything I saw but there is that pesky budget that kept shaking its finger at me and saying "no no no".

So instead of buying everything I took pictures of lots of things and until th new fabrics and patterns get here I can share the pictures with you all.  Just know that I am not a professional photographer so some pictures are great and others just downright stink.  I know you will get over it with the little give away at the end.

First up is Tina Given's display. She has a new book coming out that looks pretty cute.  It is called Sew Tina and there are tons of really cute projects in it.

And then we have the Tula Pink booth.  Her new line is called Parisville and it is very pretty.  The colors are very striking.  I am getting some of this line for the store.  Her booth made you want to just sit down and really take everything in.

I believe Parisville will be shipping in December so we will have some time next month. Of course I'll keep you all updated on its arrival.

I got lots of fat quarters and samples to giveaway so everyone can share in a the excitement of quilt market.  So for today's giveaway I am giving away a some fat quarters from the Sweet Broderie line by Rosalie Quinlin.

There are two ways to enter today's giveaway.  You can either become a fan on our Facebook page.  Then come back here and leave a comment telling me you are a fan of the page.  Or you can leave a comment here and tell me what you might make with these cute little fabrics  If you do both, I'll enter you in the drawing twice! :)

P.S.  I'll do the drawing for the fabrics on Friday and then watch for Monday's post with another giveaway.

Comments are closed.  This giveaway is over.  Thanks to those who participated!

Ready for some fabric?

I have spent the last three days at Quilt Market in Houston.  It has been so much fun see all the new fabrics and other fun products but I am ready to come home.  I am getting ready to travel in just a short while and will be back to the store on Tuesday.  I had intentions of posting pictures all along the way but the friendly little guy that sold me the card reader that he assured me would work with the camera card I was buying was so wrong!  So pics will be forthcoming in my various market reports I do over the next several days.  Along with the market reports, I will be doing some giveaways with some of the fun things I got at market and sample spree!  Check out this picture of the fabrics I picked up at sample spree.

There is some Kokka fabrics, a little of Momo's new line from Moda, some Kate Spain, and several bundles of Lecien fabrics.  There are a few more things that I am going to give away that didn't make it into the picture.  So stay tuned for when I return.
